Pulling out of a purchase?

You've had your offer accepted, you've decided it's the place for you, and then you drive past one night just for another look and decide it is the wrong house for you.
As long as you have not exchanged (in England and Wales) then you are free to pull out at any point without having to give a reason.
If you're wimping out, then email the estate agent. They might ring and ask why, or they might accept your decision without question.
Remember if you have instructed a solicitor or a surveyor there may be charges attached to that.
I have heard of estate agents asking for non-refundable deposits to stop people pulling out of chains. Just say no to these though!
