first may I say, thank you for the post. to Diane It was June '44 when as a very traumatized cockney lad myself, was billeted with Claude and Olga Kellaway, only that morning I had my last encounter with those nasty 'doodle bugs ] buzz bombs, a very large piece landed 'at my feet, going to pick the metal up, 'as kids do' for my shrapnel collection, I dropped it, still got the memory For my mum, that was too ,close for comfort, she knew people, ready to return to Devon, I was packed off, once again, to Cookbury court!!!!! ten years old... my life had taken a turn, at last, for the best. I would like to expand, but there is not enough room space. I am now 86 years young and still having, the occasional tears,Cookbury Ct, was the second beginning of a very eventful, interesting life. I can still remember Old Squire dunnsland attending Church on the Green Coobury. Happy/ sad days Many thanks after thought; publish I have plenty more memories of Holsworthy school ect I met the Kellaways many many years later, what a reunion, lovely people.
