Glassingall belonged to the Kynbuck Family from about 1100 to 1455 and the property itself is steeped in history. According to local historian, Archie McKerracher, Old Glassingall House was the original ‘House of Shaws’ in the famous novel ‘Kidnapped’ by Robert Louis Stevenson, and the plot was based on the family who lived there at the time.
