Holbeam Cottage at Ogwell

Holbeam CottageHolbeam cottage at Ogwell, Newton Abbot, Devon, TQ12 is quite remarkable! It’s an old cottage thats been given a modern twist.
It’s got the period features of a Grade II listed, thatched, 1640s cottage combined with an ultra modern extension that is very Grand Designs! It’s had some serious renovation work done with architects Minale + Minale and expert finishing by Bovey Construction.

I’m afraid though I’m not a fan of glass stairs but thats mostly because I’m not terribly good with heights.

Holbeam CottageThe house does look at first glance like two separate cottages and it’s only looking more closely you see the glass join!

The listing is very detailed and mentions the Gaggenau gas range, Philippe Starck WC and bidet and a Caesarstone engineered quartz stone island in the kitchen.

It’s certainly a nice mix of old and new!

The extension won an award for Best Domestic Extensions and Alterations PDF file

A fort!

fort with Regency houseWant to buy a fort? This one comes with a regency house too!
TREMATON CASTLE -Very beautiful historical buildings
This very unique and highly historic fort with Regency house is just amazing!
There’s a 13th Century Gatehouse.
There is also a Georgian coach house, stables and workshop, landscaped gardens, greenhouse and Indian influenced swimming pool.

Probably the most amazing house I’ve seen on rightmove – a Grade II Regency house set within Bailey of Norman Castle is certainly unique!

Massive house in Didsbury

Darley Avenue, DidsburySouth Manchester is more expensive than the North, and this massive house in Didsbury is on the market at £1.6M It’s on Darley Avenue and has uninterrupted views of the River Mersey and golf course beyond.
It has four floors and some massive rooms.
The family room is really enormous at 38’08 x 17’06 ! One of the photos of a bedroom I mistook for a lounge as it has a sofa and coffee table in it!

Vineyard and Orchard

vineyard in SomersetThis one caught my eye because of the mention of the vineyard and orchard!
How fab would that be to own your own vineyard!
This is a beautiful early 17th century house for sale. It has 5 bedrooms and is on at a Guide Price of £1,700,000
It’s in Northtown, North Wootton, Shepton Mallet, Somerset. It has just over 31 acres of land with it.
I love the sitting room with the harp and guitars!
The house is called Wootton Vineyard.
It’s a nice house with plenty of land and some great features and sounds idyllic – in the garden there is an original outdoor kitchen with woodburning stove, Courtyards, Kitchen garden and Orchard plus the Vineyard and a Stream. with Summer flowering meadows. It does sound like the place for a perfect life almost like something out of a storybook! The house is grade 2 listed.

From the brochure –
Located in the north east corner of the land there is a woodland accesed by a wooden bridge with a large wooden gazebo seating area with cedar tiled roof, chimney and fireplace. There is a zip wire, rope swings and 40ft pirate ship. Stepping stones to stream.

How heavenly does that sound!
I might be a grown up but I’d LOVE my own pirate ship!
I’m just wondering how Santa will fit this in my Christmas stocking this year!

Pugin Hall

Pugin HallPugin Hall is a really beautiful Grade I listed house built between 1846-47.
It’s an 8 bedroom house in Rampisham, Dorchester, Dorset. It has lots of features still including a Cane and Hamstone chimney piece, hamstone windows, the main staircase, open fireplaces and a set of mid 19th century doors
It has eco friendly Gilles central heating apparently too as part of a full renovation.

Sypathetic listing

Milton House I read this listing and felt that it offered sympathy for the building. It’s a listed one in need of some TLC to bring it up to it’s full potential but it’s very lovely all the same. They’ve taken lost of photos of the features inside but not over-glossed it – it will need work which is listed and it strikes me as a very honest way of listing a property.

It’s a 7 bedroom house in Milton Damerel – a former vicarage!

The obvious potential of this property is there for all to see and I think this will be a really wonderful house given some love and attention. It’s a great size too! It is grade 2 listed and has lost of really amazing features like a 16th century fireplace, flag stoned flooring and original shutters
If you’ve always wanted to restore a beautiful building then Milton House might be the one for you.
