This article on the guardian brings in the idea of a property boom around 3700 BC. It had previously been thought that the ancient momuments (stone circles, barrows and the like) had been built over many hundreds of years but it seems with new research there was an intense period of building going on in ancient Britain.
English monuments, including Maiden Castle and Windmill Hill, found to have been built, used and abandoned in single lifetime

Bad estate agent photos?
If you’re an estate agent and can’t take decent photos then you can get help at Doctor Photo – the before and after shots are interesting. Some have been lightened and some have removed signs and things from the photo. It’s like a real life spot the difference game.
Of course if you’re really bad at taking photos you could go on a course to improve your skills.
Napoleonic Fort at Salcombe
Don’t get too excited – Napoleonic Fort actually means a bit of a tower and some rocks…
However if you want a bit of history then this is the place for you.
Irrelevant pictures
There are 34 photos on this Rightmove listing
Picture 11 is a guitar, picture 10 is a clock.
It’s quite insane to show photos of these. Perhaps it’s to take your mind off the very narrow frontage of the property.
3D floor plans
Well sort of! You definitely don’t need 3d glasses.

Rich to lose their council houses
The Rich are to lose their council houses says the Telegraph this morning.
How will they do this? Council houses have secure tenancies (and low rents) – so how would they manage this?
I think they’re looking at it the wrong way round. They should be asking why rents are so high in the private sector!
The reason people queue for years for council houses is the cheap rents AND secure tenancies.
Land registry house price index
Land registry house price index – if you fancy a look at the figures then they’re now available for April 2011.
It’s a pdf file so you can right click file save as if you like to keep it.
Here’s a snippet of it showing the price drops for Manchester, Oldham and Rochdale! YOY they are pretty huge!

Award for most bizarre first photo on rightmove …
I’ve seen some strange ones – but this one takes the biscuit. I’ve screengrabbed it so you can enjoy it too!
I grabbed the page on 31st May 2011 – click here to see if it’s the same
The description made me smile too:
Oodles of character
Will suit active family that love animals
I’d have writte “will suit active family that enjoy bonfires …”
I’m not sure what the estate agent was thinking to have that as the first picture.
The house has a website here and it is rather lovely, has a tennis court and a pool! I’d be very happy there!
