House with a view…

house with viewThis house has been for sale for some time. I suspect it needs a very special buyer. The views are incredible all around it.

It has opposite it:
the gasometer
a fire station
a cemetry
It’s just down the road from the Manchester city stadium, and the other way goes to the abatoir.

Strangely enough it doesn’t have a link to google street view! Why? Because it might put people off perhaps? What a strange idea though – people will be really put off when they turn up in real life and see how close to everything you are.

I’m sure some people might like being so close to .. erm. … amenities… But I wouldn’t!

Do it yourself house sales

diy house saleNear me there’s been a house being built for about 4 years. It’s a detached house and they seem to have finally grasped the idea that they need to finish it. There’s a set of new builds built very close to it – started and finished during the time this house has been stood waiting for someone to finish it!
Are they selling it through an estate agent?
No. They’ve gone the DIY route. Not bothering with a sale board – just a sign in the window.
I spose they don’t want to waste any of their profit bothering with estate agents fees.

If you want to buy a 4 bedroom detached in New Moston then let me know and I’ll pass on the number.

Suggested TV shows that could be made about property

Following the “Young, Rich and House Hunting” program, perhaps it’s time to have some sensible TV on.

What about a show that follows people on a minimum wage struggle to try to save a deposit. What about a program that shows just how hard it is to buy a house on a normal wage – perhaps take a family on an average wage.

We could have programs on how to apply for council housing, the history of council housing and a debate on whether council housing should be extended to meet the growing demands of our society.

We could also take a look at less glamourous self-builds – those where people build boring normal shaped houses rather than glass monstrosities. (Although Grand Designs did so a sweat equity program in it’s early years about a housing association allowing people to self build!)

Young, rich house-hunting

Young, rich house-hunting is a new BBC3 program about buying a house. Not your normal first time buyers though.
It’s on today 2nd May at 8:30pm on BBC3 and again at 11:45pm

You can watch this on iplayer now

For those struggling to save a deposit it might make you feel sick watching affluent young people being given budgets of between £500,000 and £1 million to spend on a property.

My review of Young, rich house-hunting
I’m sorry I have tried to watch this but it’s horrid. I got about a minute in before deciding I am not going to watch anything so horrendously out of touch with reality. In these credit crunch times it’s insulting TV for anyone who has to work for a living.

Dreamy wisteria

Wambrook, Chard, SomersetThis house has some really pretty wisteria growing on it! It looks amazing
This 6 bedroom house for sale has a Guide Price of £1,600,000
Broadoak is in Wambrook, Chard, Somerset
Picture two shows the view from the front of the house and if you don’t smile massively when you see that amazing view then there’s no help for you!
This house has real fires in many rooms, a swimming pool in a walled garden and beautiful buildings around a courtyard. It’s picture perfect for me! Stunning house in a lovely location.
In the brochure you get two pictures of the hallway – one from the front door shows the staircase peeping through a wonderful archway that has stained glass insets.
I love the kitchen with it’s country style and the bookshelf under the window is perfect for me!

How close are shops?

When you’re looking at buying a new house you usually want to know where the nearest shops are. Do you check whether there’s a supermarket that will deliver to you to? Do you prefer independent retailers to supermarkets? Some towns still have a thriving selection of retailers and that makes for a great shopping experience and great food!
For some people though it’s the lure of online shopping and having your food delivered to your door! Check the post code of the property against the delivery service offered by local supermarkets and check if it’s important to you!
