Kevin McClouds’ Man Made Home

The lovely Kevin is building his own grand design – a shed on 2 acres of land near his Somerset home.

He’s got round planning by building it on wheels!
Exploding trees, oak bark beer and a trip down the sewers of London in search of a fuel to power his home off grid.

His home made fuel though is made in a lab though, so perhaps not as offfgrid as he’d like it to be.
Surely a better option would have been beehives and collecting the wax to make candles?

House by John Lewis

House by John LewisWe’ve all known for a long time that John Lewis stands for quality and good service. They’ve just bought out a 600 piece range called House that emphasises style for a contemporary look.

This new range is called House by John Lewis

This wonderful range of products has been created so that they will stand the test of time so that, rather than following fashion, and changing for change’s sake, the range will evolve over time, allowing customers to build a look gradually.

This is an excellent idea which will allow you to buy over the years a range of goods that will fit in with each other as the styles will stay fairly constant with design changes being subtle year on year.

The look and feel over the entire range is contemporary, with an evolving colour palette. They’ve cleverly chosen to anchor the range with combinations of neutrals. A playful set of solid colours and patterns will be introduced for different seasons. Core materials include wood finishes, glass, metal, and white ceramic that come together to create a relaxed, informal look.

Theo Williams, Design Manager, John Lewis, said: “HOUSE by John Lewis is the latest step in a journey we’re taking to make John Lewis the destination for great design. We develop contemporary collections that reflect the latest seasonal interiors trends, work with the brightest names in design through our Design Collective that launched earlier this year, and now, with this new range, we’re appealing to a whole new customer base who want great design that’s well-made, design-led and surprisingly affordable. The range is simple, accessible, and designed for contemporary living.”

Louise Stuart, Head of Buying for Cooking and Dining, John Lewis, added: “As a nation we are more design literate than we have ever been. HOUSE by John Lewis is a range offering well-designed and thought-out contemporary design, at affordable prices, and with a colour palette and design that makes it easy for customers to build on the range over time.”

It’s clear that this new set of products will appeal to anyone wanting a stylish look to their home that will last for years to come. As always you can expect high quality from John Lewis.
